The transmission, before work began.
Another view - before work began.
Here are the guts - this view is from the top after the shift cover is removed.
The lower gear set - after the upper gears are removed.
A side by side comparason of the old (long) input shaft and the new (short) input shaft.
The old button style breather was removed. The hole was then drilled, tapped with a pipe thread tap, and a new brass nipple was installed.
The completed transmission mated to the t-case.
A new clutch fork was installed. Grinding was required on the upper edge to clear the head of the mounting bolt.
That beast was heavy! Luckily, four eyebolts and an engine hoist made short work of the installation.
The standard tranny mount would not fit my adaptor plate. I fabricated this bracket out of 2-inch steel stock and used two offset mounts to replace the single mount / stabilizer arm combination.
A nice photo of the tranny and t-case installed into the chassis.
